water
The wet stuff. The very stuff of life. And our approach is cavalier, at best. Here are our Top Five Water Pearls of Wisdom, carefully planned so you could implement them all within a week:
1 Install a water meter - it will probably guarantee you use less, and heat less.
2 Buy a water butt for outside; plant up BIG, not small tubs; and use drought hardy plants in them.
3 Keep a batch of empty plastic bottles under the sink and fill them when you're running the tap to get hot water. Perfect for watering house plants! (thanks to Magie Jordan for this!)
4 Use your homemade compost as a mulch to suppress weeds and reduce water loss.
5 Use biodegradable washing products. It makes it easier to return water to its natural state.
Easy!
