It's the A to B bit. Except if course it's not. It's much more complicated than that. And, equally, it can be so much better than that, too. It comes from the origins of "carrying across"" - somehow so much more redolent of misty waters, silent boatmen, spice-hunting explorers and stamping horses. Maybe it would do us no harm to think a little of both the energy involved in this, be it human, equine or fossil; and try and remind ourselves how to enjoy the adventure a little, and shake ourselves free from the muffling grey blanket of functional "movement of goods." Or people. Especially people.
